Do you remember the parable in Matthew 13 about the farmer and his seed?
Well, Jesus said the seed represents the Word of God, which is valuable information. If the Word is described as a seed, that means it must be properly planted in our hearts. That also means it needs sun (Son), among other things, if it is to grow into a healthy tree. In verses 3-4, it reads, "Listen! A farmer went out to plant some seeds.4 As he scattered them across his field, some seeds fell on a footpath, and the birds came and ate them." Jesus later explained in verse 19 that "The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message about the Kingdom and DON'T UNDERSTAND it. Then the evil one comes and snatches away the seed that was planted in their hearts. When we don't understand the Bible, the devil will drive us into a spiritual tornado of confusion. Then we will perish for lack of knowledge (understanding). Remember, the enemy comes, like those birds, to kill, steal, and destroy our knowledge of God so we can be ignorant, stagnant, nervous, anxious, and not fruitful. Also, in verse 8-9, Jesus explained that the seed that fell on fertile "soil produced a crop that was thirty, sixty, and even a hundred times as much as had been planted! 9 Anyone with ears to hear should listen and UNDERSTAND.” Our Lord tells us in verse 23 that "The seed that fell on good soil represents those who truly HEAR and UNDERSTAND God’s word and PRODUCE a harvest of thirty, sixty, or even a hundred times as much as had been planted!” So how do we produce an abundance harvest? By hearing and understanding the Word of God and not letting demonic birds, thorns, and shallow soil to rob you of vital information that will keep you alive, strong, prosperous, healthy, peaceful, joyful, and blessed. |
