Don't die during your winter season

During your winter season, don't allow the enemy to deceive you. He will let you see drought and no future. Then he will convince you to burn down your “farm” (or garden).

He will say, “See, nothing is growing. BURN it DOWN! Things will never get better. Things will never change for you. You're wasting your time. You haven't seen results in 3 years, 5 years, or 10 years. Give it all up and do something else.”

Whatever you do, never listen to the enemy and never set fire to your own farm. Recognize which season you are in and act accordingly.

In winter, plants go through a time of dormancy (inactivity) because they cannot endure the freezing temperatures for a long time. When this happens, the plants no longer grow. It just remains at rest until it is safe to grow again.

The plant realizes that the days are shorter, so it slows down and stops growing. The plant starts taking nourishment from its leaves and enters into a state of complete dormancy.

These plants also shed their leaves in order to survive the cold and dry winter. By shedding their leaves, the trees are able to preserve water and energy.

However, during the spring, the plants begin to benefit from the longer hours of the sunlight and the abundance of rain. Thus, the plants are able to gather food and grow.

They begin to grow their leaves again. Why? Because the days and soil are warmer, and the sunlight lasts longer. As you already know, plants need light to obtain food so they can grow and reproduce.

Likewise, as Christian we need Jesus, the Light, to feed our spirits so we can grow and reproduce as well. We will have seasons where we will have to rest in the palm of God's hands, especially during winter. However, the Light continues to strengthen our spirits even if we appear dry on the outside.

As long as we remain attached to the vine, we will never dry up completely and die. We may appear dead during winter, but that is not true. During the winter, as we are on hold, God begins to teach us new things.

Then when the season changes to spring, we begin to grow from the lessons God taught us during winter.

That is why we cannot set fire to our gardens or farms during the winter because our plants are just sleeping and will be revived in due season.
