What everyone can learn from the eagle

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint” (Isaiah 40:31).

Christians can learn so much from the bald eagles. Whenever we read something in the Bible, we should automatically know each word is profound. This means we have to pay close attention to what the Lord is trying to teach us. Now, let us study Isaiah 40:31 together.

The Word says that if we hope in God, we will get strong again. This tells me that we will get weak sometimes, but if we refocus our attention on God, he will give us new strength.

The passage also states that we will soar on wings like eagles. Soar means to fly high in the air without flapping our wings. We are basically gliding in the sky.

That is interesting because sometimes we Christians flap about vigorously, fighting this and struggling with that. If that is happening, then we need to go higher in God, soaring on high, relaxing in his love and power. Yes, we have to put on our army clothes (whole armor) and fight the good fight of faith, but we still should find that balance where we can soar high above the worldly distractions.

Things we can learn from the bald eagles.

  • Be a symbol of holiness and power.
  • Live and not die prematurely (spiritually).
  • Check your eyes to make sure you’re seeing the way God wants you to see (Psalm 121).
  • Stay close to the water so you don’t become dry (Psalm 1, Jeremiah 17:8, and Ezekiel 47:12).
  • Feast on the Word of God.
  • Wait for the Lord to send you the right mate, then have your children.
  • Remain faithful to your spouse.
  • Nurture your children.
  • Be quick to listen and slow to speak.
  • Be fishers of men.
  • Strive to go higher in God.
