There is a spiritual battle happening right now as you are reading this. Demons and the people they are possessing are waging war against godliness.
That is why Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:10-12 to be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. He also says we must wear the whole armor of God, so we can stand against the wiles (trickeries) of the devil. Why must we put on our spiritual armor? Because we wrestle NOT against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, and against spiritual wickedness in high places. Psalm 34:19 made it extremely clear that “The righteous person may have many troubles, but the LORD delivers him from them all.” We will face painful days but God will bring us through all of those awful situations by leading us to the armor of God. Christians must always be dressed for battle so the Lord can show us how to fight against wickedness. No the battle is not ours, but the Lord’s. However, He needs our cooperation here on earth. Thus, He will teach us how to swing the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word. He will remind us to put on the helmet of Salvation so our minds are not corrupted by the lies of this world. He will give us the strength to keep holding up the shield of faith and all the other parts of the armor. We know we will have many troubles and tears will fill our eyes, right? Nevertheless, we have to wipe our eye, put on the full armor of God, and walk by faith and not by sight (feelings, emotions, sounds, tastes, or scents). |
