There is a story of a sick woman who had an issue of blood (bleeding) for 12 years. She spent all of her money on doctors, but no one could heal her.
Now, she knew Jesus was going around casting demons out of people and resurrecting the dead. Therefore, when that anemic, discouraged, rejected, and overwhelmed woman heard He was in town, guess what she did? Before we go any further, please understand that the biblical law considered this sick woman as unclean. Leviticus 15:19-30 states, “When a woman has her regular flow of blood, the impurity of her monthly period will last seven days, and anyone who touches her will be unclean till evening…” Even her belongings, including the chair she sat on, were unclean. That woman knew the law (and the consequences for breaking the law), but she was desperate. So she crept behind Jesus and touched the edge of his garment (Luke 8:43-48). Once she touched Him, immediately her bleeding stopped. Jesus asked, “Who touched me?” Peter answered, “Master, the people are crowding and pressing against you.” Jesus replied, “Someone touched me; I know that power has gone out from me.” The woman realized she could not go unnoticed, so she went to Jesus trembling, falling to His feet. She told Jesus, in front of everyone, why she touched Him and how she was suddenly healed. Jesus said, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” Lessons we can learn from that woman Some of us have been sick physically, emotionally, financially, just to name a few. We have attempted to discover our own ways of healing ourselves. As a result, we are either bankrupt or we are on our way to becoming bankrupt. People cannot help themselves, so they definitely cannot heal you. The only One who can use His Word to make you whole is Jesus. Let us become desperate as the woman with the issue of blood and use our faith to run to Jesus. He is waiting to heal us and to say, “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.” Previous article: Warning: Save your marriage by doing this one thing, Believe God and pray according to His will, and Do you have faith like Noah? |
