![]() “They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit." (Jeremiah 17:8) Water lilies are similar to Christians, but how? The Amazon or Victoria water lily has its roots at the bottom of ponds (in mud). This lily has beautiful leaves that float on water, reaching for the air. The Victoria water lily is able to float because air hides between the leaves. In addition, because the Victoria lily is buoyant, a child can sit on the leaves and stay afloat. Also, in one season, each lily can bear 40 or more leaves. Besides that, this plant has fragrant white, pink, and red flowers that are 18 inches wide, and they tend to last 48 hours. Its circular leaves are 3 to 12 feet in diameter, and some of its seeds are used for food by humans. Prayer Holy Spirit, help us to plant our spirits near Your river, so we can bear much fruit, and look beautiful like the Victoria lily. Let us be buoyant when the storms of life hit our lives. May we be fueled by Your Word, and may others eat from the holy fruits of our lives. Also cause us to spread out wide and display Your glory, for You are the air we breathe. I pray this in the name of Jesus. “That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither-- whatever they do prospers” (Psalm 1:3).
