![]() Children of the Most High God, you have nothing to fear. Psalm 118:6 tells us that the Lord is with us; therefore, we do not have to worry about what people will do to us. Then the next verse reads, “The Lord is with me; he is my helper. I look in triumph on my enemies” (verse 7). Because the Lord is by our side helping us, we will always stand above those who hates us. That verse is similar to Psalm 27 which states, “The Lord is my light and my salvation—whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life—of whom shall I be afraid?” The reason why we do not have to become filled with dread is because when the wicked advance against us to devour us, they will stumble and fall (verse 2). In addition, Psalm 27:3 gives us more assurance by explaining that “Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident.” Saints, God is with us and He is our helper (Psalm 118:7), so we always win! That is why “It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humans. It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” Then if all of the nations surround us, in the name of the Lord we will cut them down (verses 8-9). People will come against us (because the devil will use them), but do you see what will happen to them? We will triumph over them! Now tell me…What are you afraid of? Nothing! This world will try to back us up against a wall or surround us like bees, but they will be “consumed as quickly as burning thorns” (verse 12). In the name of the Lord, we will “cut them down” (verse 12), for the Lord is our strength, our defense, and our salvation.
