There will be seasons in your life when you will say, "I need a break. I just need to pull over, stop everything, and take a break. " Many of us have felt that way for months with no respite. You may have cried out to God, prayed until your eyes and nose became like a river, sought advice from others, and more, but still ended up undelivered from your afflictions. You basically have to trust God while facing those struggles. This means you might have to accept and be grateful for that menial job, that depressed spouse, that chaotic house, that old vehicle, that same type of food, among other things. I know we sometimes want deliverance immediately, but that is not always the case. Read the Bible long enough and you will see that Sarah and Abraham had to wait years for a baby, Joseph spent months in jail for crimes he did not commit, David had to run away from Saul because Saul was unstable, Hannah was terrorized by her husband's second wife and even endured barrenness, Daniel had to actually remain in the lion's den for hours, Jeremiah was thrown in jail for obeying God and prophesying, the woman with the issue of blood dealt with her illness for more than 10 years, Stephen was stoned for being righteous, and Jesus had to remain on the cross until He died. Nevertheless, God delivered all of those individuals. Sarah and Abraham had a baby, Joseph ended up as a great leader in Egypt, Hannah gave birth to children, Daniel was never attacked by those lions, Jeremiah didn't die in prison, the woman received healing for her blood issue, Stephen die as a righteous man (death is common to man, but to die a righteous man is not a terribend thing), and Jesus rose again. God will not give us more than we can handle. Trust Him. He is transforming you into His image as you are going through those struggles in your life, but know that He will work everything out for your good. You can't just pull over and wait for your problems to vanish. You have to lean on Jesus and live by His grace. |
