“Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me. Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12-14). You and I have to continue to forget the past. Why? Because you need all of your remaining energy to pursue the call of God on your life. Forget about what happened yesterday, last week, last year, and when you were a child. The enemy wants you to replay your past events continuously in order to distract you from your present. Reconnect with your current situation and allow the Lord to teach you all that you need to learn for the journey. Snap out of that coma. You have to endure the painful situation, for this is real life and you must be alert to learn some real lessons. Amen? Your present is essential because the choices you make today will influence your future. This is why the Apostle Paul said, “but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 3:12-14). The enemy spent years pounding on you, beating you with fear, guilt, shame, poverty, anger, bitterness, among other things. Well, now is your time to do the pounding. Pound him by pressing into your destiny and fulfilling the calling of God on your life. Press into prayer, press into worship, press into your gifts, press into holiness, and press into righteousness.
