Sacrifice your Isaac (part two)Read part one of this Sacrifice your Isaac
Abraham listened and obeyed God. He traveled three days to the place where God told him to offer the sacrifice. Abraham then asked the young men who were with him to stay with the donkey, so he and Isaac could go and worship. This shows that worship requires a sacrifice. We have to give up everything as a living sacrifice unto God, even ourselves. As Abraham was setting up for the burnt offering, Isaac asked, “Look, the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?” Abraham answered, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb for a burnt offering.” Later, Abraham tied up his son and lifted a knife to slay him. However, the Angel of the Lord called to him from heaven and said, “Abraham, Abraham… Do not lay your hand on the lad, or do anything to him; for now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from Me” (verse 11-12). God will test us to see if we truly love Him or if we are just hanging around Him to get what we want. Make sure you pass your test. And if you failed the test previously, go on and obey now. After, Abraham saw a ram in a thicket and sacrificed it instead. “And Abraham called the name of the place, The-Lord-Will-Provide;as it is said to this day, “In the Mount of the Lord it shall be provided [Jehovah- Jireh]” (verses 13:14). Blessings after obedience (verses 15-18)
Galatians 3:29 reads, "If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise." Therefore, receive your blessings now! God says He is multiplying your descendants. He's blessing you. Your enemies you will defeat! You are the seed of Abraham, so receive what is yours because of Jesus! |
