I was thinking about Rahab the prostitute and how she helped the spies that Joshua sent to Jericho. Imagine that, those men entered the house of a prostitute and stayed there (Joshua 2).
Listen, you do not know who God is going to send to help you. Now is not the time to be religious. God has used a donkey (Numbers 22:30), a rooster (Mark 14:72), and a prostitute to make a difference. When the King of Jericho asked Rahab for the spies, she protected the foreigners. She knew the Lord had given the land to the Israelites, so she made the spies promise to protect her family since she helped them. In verse 12-13, she said, “Now then, please swear to me by the Lord that you will show kindness to my family, because I have shown kindness to you. Give me a sure sign that you will spare the lives of my father and mother, my brothers and sisters, and all who belong to them—and that you will save us from death.” The spies replied, “Our lives for your lives…If you don’t tell what we are doing, we will treat you kindly and faithfully when the Lord gives us the land.” In this season, God will begin to bless us in strange ways. Do not let ignorance block your prosperity. Rahab was a prostitute but she helped the people of God and she received protection. Allow that sinner, or whomever, to pour into your life because that one act of kindness might just lead that person to salvation. As that person assists you, he or she is actually helping him or herself. |
