Present your body as a living sacrifice

PicturePhoto by Pixabay
You, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will (Romans 12:1-2).

Children of the Most High God (El Elyon), God is not calling us to offer animal sacrifices. He is calling us to “spiritually” sacrifice ourselves as a burnt offering.
Jesus already gave us an example. Hebrews 10:8 says, “Sacrifices and offerings, burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not desire, nor were you pleased with them.”

The Bible goes on to say that “We have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all” (verse 10).

Why did God stop animal sacrifices? Because “It is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins” (Hebrews 10:4).

That is why God prepared a body for Jesus so He could enter the world to fulfill God's will. What was that will? To die on the cross for our sins and to reconcile us back to Yahweh.

Now it is up to us to daily lay down our sinful desires. We are to burn up everything that is displeasing to God (Leviticus 1). And when God sees the smoke rising from those things that we love but choose to sacrifice, He smiles. He sees that like Himself, we are willing to sacrifice our “first love” like He was willing to give up His “only Son” for us to live eternally.

That is when we begin to walk in freedom!
