Potter and clayToday I saw the word 'Clayton' more than once. Clayton means 'Town built on clay'.
Some people describe clay as being from the pits and streets. Clay is a sticky, fine-grained earth according to the dictionary. Clay can be different colors (yellow, red, or gray). You can mold clay when it is wet. After drying the clay, you can create bricks, pottery, and ceramics. In order to dry the clay, you can dry it from the heat of the sun or by exposing the clay to severe heat. The heat hardens the clay, causing it to become resilient and reliable building material. Clay is versatile. Therefore, it can be used to help anchor plants as they grow. You can even use clay in landscaping. Some people even use clay to produce bricks for walkways, patios, clay pots, etc. Bible verses about clay 2 Corinthians 4:7-9 7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; Romans 9:19-21 19 One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” 20 But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?’” 21 Does not the potter have the right to make out of the same lump of clay some pottery for special purposes and some for common use? Jeremiah 18:1-10 This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and there I will give you my message.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house, and I saw him working at the wheel. 4 But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. 5 Then the word of the Lord came to me. 6 He said, “Can I not do with you, Israel, as this potter does?” declares the Lord. “Like clay in the hand of the potter, so are you in my hand, Israel. 7 If at any time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be uprooted, torn down and destroyed, 8 and if that nation I warned repents of its evil, then I will relent and not inflict on it the disaster I had planned. 9 And if at another time I announce that a nation or kingdom is to be built up and planted, 10 and if it does evil in my sight and does not obey me, then I will reconsider the good I had intended to do for it. Prayer Heavenly Father, we praise Your Holy name. You are majestic, mighty, compassionate, and creative. Father, please forgive us of all our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Father, I surrender all to You. You are the Potter and I am the clay (dirt). Genesis 2:7 states, "Then the LORD God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being." Thank You, Father, for making humans. You took simple clay to make us into Your temple, and You breathed into us LIFE. Mold me Father into the image of Jesus Christ. Romans 8:29 says, "For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters." Father, divinely mend the broken places in my life. I pray this for my husband, children, family and friends. Like Kintsugi (golden joinery), also known as Kintsukuroi (golden repair), the Japanese art in which artists repair broken pottery instead of throwing them in the trash, Father use divine gold (the Blood of Jesus Christ) to restore us in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. We want to be more like You, Abba, Even when we go through obstacles, help us to surrender to You, our Potter. Remind us of the treasures inside of us. We build our lives on the rock of Jesus! I cover this prayer in the Blood of Jesus Christ and there will be no backlash or retaliation of the enemy in the mighty name of Jesus Christ. Hallelujah!
