Our God is a consuming FireIn my last video, I talked about how gold needs to be refined and purified so it can transform into the beautiful gold we are accustomed to seeing.
Let's continue our study on fire. Our God is a consuming Fire God chooses to purge us by fire because He is a consuming fire. This means He is powerful, expects all of our worship, and gets jealous if we worship idols. That is why the Bible states for us to be careful not to forget the covenant of the Lord our God that he made with us, and for us not to make for ourselves an idol in the form of anything our God has forbidden. For the Lord our God is a consuming fire, a jealous God” (Deuteronomy 4:23-24). We are serving a mighty God, the God who appeared to Moses in a flame of fire and the God who led the children of Israelites as a pillar of cloud and fire. In fact, when Moses first truly encountered God, it was with the burning bush. Moses saw a bush that was on fire but was never consumed. In other words, Moses saw the presence of God and was stunned. Wouldn't you be shocked if you were to see a bush on fire that was not being reduced to ashes? God sets His servants on fire The Bible says in Hebrews 1:7 that Jehovah makes His ministers a flame of fire. That means we have power from heaven to complete our divine assignments on earth. Just imagine, you and I are like fire on earth! Now, that is powerful. God baptizes us with fire Then in Luke 3:16, John the Baptist said he baptized with water, but Jesus would baptize us with the Holy Spirit and with fire. That was why Jeremiah said God was like burning fire shut up in his bones. The prophet made that statement because he had attempted not to speak any more in God's name. Jeremiah actually became weary from trying to hold back the fire that was in his belly! He had to release that power in the form of prophecy. You see, if we disobey God by refusing to do what He has commanded us to do, we will quench the Holy Spirit who lives inside us. Thus, we might end up like King Saul, not having the Holy Ghost within us, and being tormented. God fills us with the Holy Ghost Since we have the Holy Ghost of God living in our temples (our bodies), we should continuously experience what the disciples witnessed on the day of Pentecost (Acts 2). When they were all together in one place, a sudden sound like a mighty rushing wind came from heaven and filled the room. Then divided tongues as of fire appeared and rested on each one of them. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance. That is another example of God's power. When we accept His Son Jesus as our Lord and Savior, God fills us with the mighty Holy Spirit who gives us supernatural abilities! Then God surrounds us with angels and chariots of fire to protect us, which is mentioned in 2 Kings 6:17-20. Therefore, we have nothing to fear, for we are flames of fire on the earth. Prayer~ Heavenly Father, You are a consuming fire, You are powerful, You are jealous, You are loving, and You must be feared. I honor You today. Thank You for filling me with Your Holy Spirit. Thank You for making me like a flame of fire. Thank You for giving me supernatural abilities to fulfill Your will on earth in the name of Jesus. Amen.
