In the previous article, you learned about Nehemiah and the Jews repairing the city of Jerusalem.
You also learned that God will repair your life and send respectable individuals to help you.
~Let us continue~
When the Lord begins to restore you and connect you with reputable people, you will face opposition.
In Nehemiah 2:19, the Bible states, “But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshemthe Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us.” Sanballat also accused Nehemiah of rebelling against the king.
However, Nehemiah retorted by saying “The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.”
Sanballat did not give up; he continued to attack Nehemiah and the others.
The Bible declares, “When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews” (Nehemiah 4:1, NIV).
People will get angry with you as God restructure your life for His glory. As long as you are broken down, many people will ignore you. But as soon as some people see the Lord improving your condition, they will become furious and ridicule your progress.
Sanballat even fixed his mouth to ask, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?”
Sanballat’s friend, Tobiah also added, “What they are building-even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!”
Continue allowing the Lord to use the hammer of His Word to restore you. Even if you do not think you are progressing, always remember that righteous people live by faith. Furthermore, you will know you are making advancement based on the level of opposition you are encountering.
