There is so much we can learn from the Samaritan woman in John 4. For one thing, she was in need of true love. Why do I say that? Because she had five husbands, and when Jesus was talking to her she had herself another man (verse 18). No wonder the Lord found time to meet with her at the well to quench her thirsty soul (verse 13). Like the Samaritan woman, we all have testimonies of personal disappointments. However, there is hope for us. Right now, wherever you are, and whomever you are, Jesus wants to trade your brokenness for his grace and mercy. He wants to give you water in your soul, a spring of water that will well up to eternal life. Hand Jesus your unpleasant past, and He will teach you how to worship Him in the Spirit and in truth. Then you will know His truth and will be set free. After her encounter with the Messiah, the Samaritan woman left her water jar (verse 28), her carnal way of satisfying her own soul, and she transformed into an evangelist (verses 29-30). The Lord is ready to change your situation, but you must leave your “water jar” and surrender everything to Him. A man, job, friend, money, ministry, or talent won’t be able to give you satisfaction. You will only discover love, joy, peace, hope, strength, healing, and all spiritual blessings in the God who created you. Previous article: Sacrifice your Isaac (part two) |
