Thank You for keeping us in our right minds and for strengthening us when all odds were against us. Thank You, Jesus Christ! Psalm 66 verses 8-12 are extremely encouraging to me right now. The psalmist says, Let the whole world bless our God and loudly sing his praises.” Did you notice the text did not command us to praise our problems? No, the verse commands us, and all the earth, to bless our God. What does the word bless mean? The dictionary explains that to bless someone is to make him or her holy through prayer. Bless also can be defined as to ask God to care for and protect someone or something. However, when we bless God, we are honoring Him as holy. God’s nature is holy. Everything about Him is holy, but God is also faithful, loving, and truthful. He has been there for us when nobody else could be there (or did not want to be there to help us). Verse 9 states, “Our lives are in his hands, and he keeps our feet from stumbling.” I don’t know about you, but that is an enormous reason to bless the Lord. Listen, our lives are in His strong hands and He protects us from falling on our faces in shame and embarrassment! How many of you had ever been so alone but were often reminded that you were safe in the hands of the Almighty? Yes, the Lord has allowed us to be tested and purified like silver (verse 10). Yes, He has allowed us to feel and endure the struggles of this world (verse 11). Yes, we have experienced tough leaders who cruelly controlled us, and we had to pass through the fire and flood. However, the Lord always brought us to a place of great abundance (verse 12). Bless the Lord! He will always bring you from the valley (hardships) to a place of great abundance (fruitfulness).
