How much are you willing to give up? (Part one)

Picture
What is your greatest accomplishment so far? For some people, achieving a particular degree was an awesome achievement. How about that dream job, that fancy car, or that exquisite vacation, aren't you proud of those triumphs?

Now, think about this. Would you give up all those blessings just to know Christ in a deeper way? The Apostle Paul said “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things” (Philippians 3:7-8).

That is the level of commitment God requires of us. We have to be willing to look at everything we love and look at all Christ has done for us. Then we must be willing to toss those beloved things in the fire of holiness and embrace the Cross.

Prayer: Father God, I am willing to give up______(name those things) so I can know Christ better. Forgive me for placing anything above You. Draw me closer to You. Teach me more about Your Son. Change my life, and give me a fresh anointing. Strengthen me and let my desire for You be greater in the name of Jesus.
