Hope against hopeHow do we fight the spirit of doubt? Romans 4:18 states that "Even when there was no reason for hope, Abraham kept hoping--believing that he would become the father of many nations."
Abraham had no reason to believe he would have a child with Sarah, and maybe you feel like you don't have anymore faith in you to trust God. However, when you have reached that place, that place where you cannot believe another promise, challenge yourself to believe again. When you do that, you will impress the Lord, and he will change your situation around. The Bible says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.” Believing God, even if your trials linger, is a sign of righteousness. Do not become weary Another way you can defeat doubt is by reading Galatians 6:9, which reads, "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Look around your house, your church, your job, and your community, and allow God to show you how you can be a blessing to others. Stop focusing on those delayed promises and start focusing on making a difference in the lives of others. You actually gain strength while helping to build up others. Let us learn from Abraham. He continued to do what was right in God's eyes even though his situation was lifeless, and that impressed God so much he ended up blessing Abraham with countless children. Prayer: Lord, forgive me for doubting you. Father, I am taking the time right now to thank you for _______________ (Tell God what you are thankful for). I will believe you like Abraham. I will continue to obey you even when I do not see an answer to my prayers. Strengthen me. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen. |
