The best thing we can do for ourselves is to get the Word of God inside our hearts. Why?
In Jeremiah 1:12 (NIV), the Lord said to Jeremiah, “You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled.” God cannot lie. He said His Word will not return to Him empty, but will accomplish what He desires and achieve the purpose for which He sent it (Isaiah 55:11). Therefore, God is searching within us, shining a spiritual flashlight, just to locate His Word so He can fulfill it. Our Father loves us and wants to open the windows of heaven and pour blessings on us, but this “raining” of blessings cannot manifest until we fill our hearts with the Word of God. Therefore, if we need healing, we can bring the Scripture that says by His stripes we are healed back to God and expect that He will honor His Word (Isaiah 53:5). When we need food in our refrigerators, we can profess, “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19) or God is “making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah 43:19). If we need strength, we can begin to say, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline” (2 Timothy 1:7). Imagine that your body is a vessel or well, and the Word is water. Each day, you have to pour the water (the Word) inside your vessel. Now think of your prayers as seeds. Now, when God wants to answer your prayers, He will take water (the Word) from your vessel to pour on the seeds, so you can have a harvest.
