God is faithful When I was an older teenager, there were two Bible verses that really encouraged me. At that time, I was going through the hardest time of my life (or so I thought). I had been living in a transitional home and felt like God had turned his back on me. Yes, we tend to blame God for the messes we create in our lives. During that time, I was trying to be dedicated to God but had a difficult time. But when I read Jeremiah 31:16 and I Thessalonians 5:24, they were etched in my heart forever. In Jeremiah 31:16 the Lord declares, “Restrain your voice from weeping and your eyes from tears, for your work will be rewarded.” I held those words close to my heart because I really needed God to dry my tears and to help me. And I must say that he did bless me more than I had ever imagined. My Christian friends had attempted to motivate me back then, but I was too broken and bitter to consistently live as a Christian. The next verse in I Thessalonians 5:24 made me see God differently. That passage states, “The one who calls you is faithful, and he will do it." From the time I read that verse until now, I looked at God as being faithful, which means loyal, deserving trust, showing true and constant trust, and keeping your promises. Therefore, I started forcing myself to believe God was loyal and that I could trust him to turn my weeping into joy and to reward me. To all my brothers and sisters in Christ, never forget that God is faithful and will answer our prayers. Even if we are still broken in certain areas and tripping over the problems in our lives, God is faithful to heal and deliver us. He will keep transforming us into his Son’s image. Just wait and see. Prayer: Heaven Father, it is so hard to trust you sometimes, so help me to believe that you are faithful and will turn my situation around for good. Help me to see the tears converting into burst of joy. You are a God who cannot lie, so I am, by faith, believing that the old things will pass away and the new blessings are pouring upon me. Father, forgive me for not believing, for not trusting. I surrender my life to you today, and I am going to imagine your arms around me, supplying all my needs according to your riches in glory in Christ Jesus. |
