In the Bible, water symbolizes the Word of God and the Holy Spirit. Once you begin to read the Bible, the Holy Spirit will begin to cleanse your mind with truth, and He fill your heart with the righteous personality of Jehovah.
John 4:14 (NIV) tells us that whoever drinks the water Jesus gives them will never thirst, for the water He gives them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life. Have you ever been thirsty after going without water for a few hours or after exercising? You almost feel like a desert, right? Well, since we were meant to have a relationship with God, our spirits will become dry (thirsty for God) unless we drink from His Word. Hosea 6:3 says, “Let us acknowledge the LORD; let us press on to acknowledge him. As surely as the sun rises, he will appear; he will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.” Then Ephesians 5: 26-27 explains that Christ loved the church so much He died for her, making the church holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word. We are God’s church (temple) and the Holy Spirit lives in us. The church needs a Shepherd, right? And doesn’t it also need the pure Word of God? Well, Jesus is the Shepherd of our lives, and He has filled us with the Holy Spirit. All we have to do is continue to open the Bible and let it be part of our temple. Each time you read the Bible and live a holy life, you are magnifying the Holy Spirit’s presence in your life and your spirit will be like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither (sign of prosperity). Jeremiah 17:7-8 states, “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Be obedient. Read your Bible and escape spiritual drought and a meaningless life. Previous articles: Your blessing is in your breaking (Bishop Jakes) and Why I decided to help a smelly, toothless, mean dog |
