Do you have faith like Noah?

Picture
Previous article: What is faith?

Noah was a righteous man who walked with God faithfully. However, the people around him were corrupt and violent (Genesis 5:10-11).

When God saw how immoral the people had become, He told Noah He was going to destroy the earth (verse 13).

Then the Lord told Noah to build an ark so he and his family (Noah’s wife, sons, and his sons’ wives) could be protected when God released floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens (verse 17).

Noah’s faith walk

Genesis 2:5 suggests that there was no rain before the flood. Though, some commentators disagree with this idea. The Bible states, “before any plant of the field was in the earth and before any herb of the field had grown. For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground;”

The point I want you to focus on is Noah’s faith. Hebrews 11:7 says, “By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.”

Noah was living around wicked people, yet he chose to submit his life to God. That is faith.

Also, if there was no rain before the flood, yet Noah was building a huge boat, that required so much faith! His corrupt neighbors probably thought he was insane. Nonetheless, Noah’s obedience saved his family.

When God calls you to do something, your response is to simply obey. Some people will call you crazy but that does not matter. You are not trying to impress and please people. Your sole purpose is to fulfill your destiny. Therefore, walk by faith and not by sight.

Prayer: Father, help us to grow in our faith. Teach us how to hear Your voice. We want to serve you like Noah, whose name means rest and comfort. We want to rest in Your Word and find comfort in our obedience to You in the name of Jesus. Cause us to be bold like a lion for You, Father!
