YAHWEH-NISSI ( The Lord Our Banner)Everybody wants to be loved.
Having people around you who genuinely love you is rare for some of us. If you are one of the ones who had a tough life (where love was uncommon), then this message is for you. Let me tell you a little secret. The God of the universe loves you. He loves you so much that in order to save you from eternal separation from Him (Revelation 14:9-11; 19:3 and Matthew 22:13), God sent His only Son, Jesus, to die for your sins (John 3:16). Our Father sacrificed Jesus so you and I, helpless sinners, could live. Now that is love! So the next time you feel unloved, remind yourself of the price Jesus paid in order to redeem you. YAHWEH-NISSI In Exodus 17, the Israelites were able to conquer the Amalekites because Moses’ hands were lifted in the air. After winning that battle, Moses called God, YAHWEH-NISSI (Jehovah-Nissi), which means The Lord Our Banner. Have you ever seen a worshiper waving a praise flag? Isn’t that a beautiful sight to see the flag rippling in the air with a Biblical message? Now imagine God’s love for you flowing just like that. The significance of YAHWEH-NISSI When we lift up our hands to God, we are surrendering to Him in worship, trusting He is fighting the battle for us (2 Chronicles 20: 15-17). Always remember that God loves you. Each day, close your eyes and see YAHWEH-NISSI waving His banner of love over you (Song of Songs 2:4). Find yourself a mirror and look at your face and speak this to yourself: “I am blessed and highly favored by God. As long as I lift my hands in worship, He will give me the victory. God will wave His banner of love and victory over me always.” Previous articles: Is this dress appropriate for church? and Refocusing (Day four) |
