Death and life are in the power of the tongue

Picture
Be wise about what you think and say from now one. We are all guilty of speaking inappropriately, right? Well, today God is calling us higher, especially me.

The mouth speaks what the heart is full of (Luke 6:45), so be careful what you are thinking about because the junk that is inside of you will cause you to speak evil. Thus, you will create “death” in your circumstances instead of speaking the Word of God and giving birth to life (John 6:63).

The Bible states that “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit” (Proverbs 18:21, NKJV).

The NLT puts it this way, “The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences” (Proverbs, 18:21 NLT).

If we keep speaking our own words, we could potentially cause chaos in our own lives. What do you think will happen if you keep telling yourself you are no good, ugly, poor, defeated, evil, sick, hopeless, and fearful? You will behave according to your words.

On the other hand, if you decide to speak the Word of God, He will use His Word that is released from your mouth to bring life. You will know you are speaking life because you will have peace, joy, patience, healing, hope, strength, daily bread, revelation, just to name a few.

Romans 4:17 tells us that God gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. We are to imitate God and speak life into our dead issues, not agree with those barren issues!

Let us repent together of speaking death in the earth. Our Father is faithful to forgive us once we own up to our sins. Then as we surrender to God, He will take our dead issues and resurrect them if they are according to His will.

Meditate on these Bible verses
  • So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire! (James 3:5)
  • A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit (Proverbs 15:4).
  • But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment (Matthew 12:36).
  • From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things, but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence (Proverbs 13:2).
  • Sin is not ended by multiplying words, but the prudent hold their tongues (Proverbs 10:19).
  • A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger (Proverbs 15:1).
