I know this blog focuses on Biblical teachings, but as a Christian educator, I will include some educational articles this year. I know they will help Christian parents as well as educators and students. Be blessed!

Teachers, as you prepare for your students to return to school, make sure your classroom procedures are established. This is essential because the students need to know what is expected of them when they are entering your classrooms, walking the hallways, participating in recess, submitting assignments, going to the bathroom, among others things.

Here are examples of some expectations you should implement in your classes.

Classroom Expectations (for entering the room)
  • Greet your teacher
  • Enter the room quietly
  • Place your bag along the wall (be specific)
  • Take out your notebook and start the warm-up of the day
Classroom Expectations (in general)
  • Be prepared
  • Be polite
  • Participate in learning
  • Raise your hand for assistance
Group Members Expectations
  • President (Group Leader)- responsible for reading the instructions and keeping the other students on track
  • Secretary- responsible for taking notes and reading those notes to the group
  • Resource Manager- responsible for gathering the supplies for the group
  • Speaker (Presenter)- responsible for effectively presenting the project to the class
Hallway Expectations
  • Line up in alphabetically order (according to your last name)
  • Wait for instructions from the teacher
  • Walk quietly in a straight line
  • Keep hands and feet to yourself
Here are some other procedures to cover with your students for the first week of school. Once your students know what is expected of them, the school community will function respectably, and learning will increase.
