Raise your hand if you ever recognized that the intimate presence of God was far from you. That is the scariest thing ever.
Just imagine a whole bunch of rivers that are filled with dirt instead of water. Also picture many days with a gray sky above your head. Disturbing, right? We all go through those seasons. Unfortunately, some of us have to remain in those seasons longer than others for different reasons. In Isaiah 54:7-8 God says, “For a mere moment I have forsaken you, But with great mercies I will gather you. With a little wrath I hid My face from you for a moment; …” Nevertheless, today that Lord wants you to know that He is gathering you because of His great mercies. Though you have fallen short, messed things up in one area or another, He is looking at your life through the lens of mercy. Although it seemed as if He was ignoring you as you suffered in that season, He will have mercy on you since He is a God of everlasting kindness. Hebrews 4:14-16 states, “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” When God sees you, He sees the Blood of His one and only Son, Jesus, who lived on earth and experienced all the emotions we deal with. Therefore, the Father is sympathetic to us because of the cross and because He knows we are so weak. However, when we are weak, He is strong, and He will rescue us from our painful situations with His everlasting kindness. |
