Be Still and Know I am God , Your Refuge

Picture
God is our refuge (shelter) and strength (Psalm 46:1). That means we can run to Him for protection.

The Bible says God will never leave us or forsake us, and that He is our strength when we are completely weak.

In dealing with Apostle Paul, God said, "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."

After that revelation, Paul declared, “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

That is why we surrender to the King of kings and cast-off fear, for God is “a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1-2). He is our strength when we are afraid, feeble, and exhausted.

Although we face great difficulties, we still have the Good News, which is the Gospel.

This Good News announces to us that God sent His only Son to die for us that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

This Good News is that we live in Christ and our old sinful nature is gone (2 Corinthians 5:17) because as far as the east is from the west, so far has God removed our transgressions from us (Psalm 103:12).

Nothing else is as important as knowing that we will live eternally with God. Nothing else is as important as knowing that our sins are forgiven and that we are in right relationship with the Creator of everything.

Therefore, Jehovah is saying to us “Be still, and know that I am God” (Psalm 46:10). Once we perceive and accept that God loves us and is in control of our lives, we can be still (be at peace).

Why? Because He has a plan to prosper (grow, thrive, increase) us. God’s plan is never to harm (damage, injure, abuse, hurt) His children.

His plan is to give us hope (confidence, expectation, courage, faith) and a future (Jeremiah 29:11).

Thank you, God, for being our refuge, strength, and helper. We will still our souls and walk by faith.
