Being stubborn will really hurt you. We've all seen children who refused to listen to their parents, and so their parents had to discipline them. Likewise, when we are stubborn, refusing to obey God, He has to discipline us (Hebrews 12:6).
Some of us will learn our lesson through time-out while others will learn obedience through spanking. Unfortunately, time-out and spanking doesn't work for some of us. Therefore, the Lord has to withhold certain things from us and declare, "You are grounded!"
If you have a habit of being stubborn, repent, and agree with your heavenly Father. He always has your best interest at heart. You can trust Him. Listen, you don't know what's best for you...HE DOES.
The Bible tells us that rebellion is like the sin of divination, and arrogance like the evil of idolatry (1 Samuel 15: 23). In verse 22, Samuel asked the rebellious Saul, "What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice?" Then Samuel explained that "Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams."
In Acts 16:16, we learned that Paul encountered a girl who had a spirit of divination. The Greek word for divination in that verse translates to "python" in English. So if you're stubborn, ask the Holy Spirit if python is squeezing the breathe of God out of you.
Furthermore, did you know that shepherds have to sometimes break the legs of their rebellious sheep? Listen, God will do what it takes to get you in line. He offered His Son on that cross, right? Ok, so if you keep refusing to submit to Him, you must expect that He will discipline you because if He doesn't, your flesh and the devil will kill you.
Choose this day to be obedient and to bind up that strongman of stubbornness (rebellion/witchcraft) in your life in the mighty name of Jesus Christ!
Don't allow python to continue to coil itself around you because you will remain imprisoned or you will suffocate. Choose to obey the Word of God now.
