Be careful of lying spiritsWatch out for false prophets. Our society is flooded with lies from the enemy, but the Truth (the Word of God) always destroys every deception.
In the Book of 1 Kings 22:19-23, the prophet Micaiah explained that he saw a spirit standing before the Lord, volunteering to be a lying (deceiving) spirit in the mouths of the prophets of King Ahab. However, this was all part of God's plan to take down the rebellious Ahab. What is disturbing, though, is the fact that this king's prophets were prophesying good things to him. Unfortunately, they were basically setting him up for destruction. Be careful, Saints. Jesus warned us in Matthew 7:15-20 (KJV) when He said: 15 Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.16 Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles? 17 Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.18 A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. 19 Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 20 Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. So, what kind of fruit should be evident in the lives of prophets? The fruit of the Spirit. Galatians 5:22-23 tells us that the nine characteristics of the fruit of the Holy Spirit are love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, and temperance. Prayer: Heavenly Father, You are holy, righteous, loving, sovereign, and true. Forgive us of our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Heighten our ability to discern between good and evil. Mature the fruit of the Spirit in us and give us the obedience and boldness to resist all false prophets and all lies (2 Thessalonians 2:3) of the devil in the name of Jesus. I accept Your Son as my Lord and Savior. I now walk in His truth! Find us on Facebook or YouTube Order novels by Stacy-Ann Facey |
